GCSE Results

 

The GCSE Results for the Academic Year 2017 - 2018

  • 54% of students gained 9-7/A*-A grades and 99% achieved 9-4/A*-C grades.
  • 15% of students received all grades 9-7/A*-A and 100% achieved five 9-4 grade GCSEs.
  • 60% of the Further Maths GCSE cohort achieved A*-A grades and 45% achieved 9-7 in the Maths GCSE.
  • The English department facilitated outstanding results too with 91% of students receiving 9-6 grades across English Language and Literature.
  • Another subject with notable success is Relgious Studies where three quarters of the year group secured 9-7 grades with 25% awarded a grade 9.

The GCSE Results for the Academic Year 2016 - 2017

  • 52% of all grades were A*-A/9-7 compared to the national average of 23%
  • 94% of grades were A*-C/9-4 compared to the national average of 66%
  • The Marist achieved 98% 5A*-C/9-4 including Maths and English, with 30% of girls achieving at least 9A* to A grades
  • 14% of students achieved all A*/A and 9-7 grades

Value Added Score using Progress 8 Measure

Progress 8 measure is calculated by comparing the achievement (Attainment 8 score) for our pupils against the Attainment 8 score of all pupils nationally with similar ‘prior attainment’. Using these calculations, pupils at The Marist made almost one fifth of a grade more progress per subject compared with pupils nationally with the same prior attainment. The Government standard is (- 0.5) and The Marist is (0.68) above this = 0.18.

A LEVEL RESULTS

 

Academic A Level Achievement 2017 / 2018

  • Over half of this year's Year 13 students received straight A* and A grades and 97% received A* - C.
  • 77% of students have been offered places with Russell Group Universities.
  • Despite the fall in uptake of languages nationally at A Level, this year has been exceptional linguistically for The Marist with 100% of students achieving A* and A grades in Spanish and German and 100% A-C in French.
  • Maths, which is also traditionally strong at the school, saw high results with 100% of girls gaining A*-B alongside first-class results in the Economics department with 100% of girls achieving A*-A.
  • The grades for the Extended Project Qualification were also exceptional with 83% of girls achieving A* and 100% A* - A.

  • 83% of all grades were A* - B
  • ALPs Score for 'Value Added' remains in the top category as 'Outstanding'
  • 100% of students who took the Extended Project Qualification achieved A* to A grade; 56% of students received the A* grade
  • Of our university students, 62% of students will be attending Russell Group Universities
  • Daily Telegraph National A Level Ranking = No. 149

Value Added Score

ALPS is a value add monitoring system. This is a national system that evaluates the A Level results for each student against their GCSE scores. The school is then graded from 1 – 9.

In 2017, The Marist was Graded 2 – Outstanding. This places the school in the top 10% of schools for value added.
