Visiting The School

When you contact the school to make an enquiry you will be sent basic information about the school.  The next step will be to visit, either with a personal visit or as part of an Open Event.  This will allow you to see the school in operation and give you a chance to ask the questions that are important to you.  You can complete a registration form at any stage.

Click here to go to the online registration form.  This needs to be submitted with a non-refundable registration fee of £100 (or £150 for overseas entrants).  Once these have been received you will be sent information about assessment and the next stage in admissions.  You will also receive information on Taster Days and Open Events.

Once we receive the registration form your daughter will be invited in for an assessment.  The type of assessment will depend on the year group applied for.

Specific Preparatory Information

Entry to Early Years

Places may be either full-time or part-time, with preference given to those seeking full-time.  Parents can opt for a minimum of three sessions in Pre-Nursery (rising 3) and five sessions in Nursery (rising 4), with Reception full-time.  There are no assessments for entry into Early Years, although for girls who have attended Nursery previously, we would request a report and their Learning Journeys.

Entry to Years 1-6

Parents are welcome to register their children to enter Year 1 - Year 6 in the Preparatory School.  You will then be notified when a place becomes available in these years.  Places become available if a girl leaves the year, except Year 3 where a new class is created so places will be available for direct entry.  When a space arises, a child will be selected from the waiting list, taking into account the school’s Admissions Policy.  Subject to assessment (Years 3 - 6) and a satisfactory school report, an offer of a place may be made. Should a place not arise for a child’s requested term of entry, the registration will roll over to the next academic year until a place becomes available.

When a place is offered, a deposit of £500 is payable when the offer is accepted. This deposit, less £50 administration charge, will be retained until your daughter leaves the school, when it will be credited to the final account for fees and any extras which may be due at that time. The deposit is non-refundable if a girl does not take up a place at the school. Once your place is confirmed, all further necessary information will be given to you in an orientation pack, including a uniform list, club timetables and term dates.

New girls are invited to a ‘Taster session’ in the term before the start, where they get the opportunity to meet their new classmates and teachers.

Specific Sixth Form Information

Entry Requirements for Sixth Form – only applicable for students who are currently not at the school

To join the Sixth Form, students will need to achieve a minimum of 7 A* - C (9-4) grade at GCSE.

For their chosen A Level subjects:

  • An A*/A (9-7) grade at GCSE is desirable; a minimum of a B grade is required
  • For Mathematics, an A*/A (9-7) grade at GCSE is required
  • For French and Spanish, an A*/A (9-7) grade in the GCSE writing paper is required
  • For new subjects offered only at A Level, we will consider the relevant GCSEs, such as the History/ English grade for Government & Politics, with at least a B grade expected in the related subject/s.

Students wishing to proceed with their application should complete a copy of the registration form, which can be downloaded from the website, and return this to the Admissions Department along with the registration fee, a personal statement, a copy of their most recent school report which should include mock GCSE and predicted grades and their A Level subject choice.  Each applicant should then contact the Admissions Department to arrange their interview with Miss Fenning, Director of Sixth Form.

In addition to the above, we will request a school reference from the student’s current school in order to assess whether a student has the ability and appropriate attitude to cope with the independent study expected at Sixth Form level.

Following the procedures above, an offer may be made. For students sitting GCSEs or IGCSEs at their current school, any offer will be conditional upon the applicant achieving the minimum grade requirement for Sixth Form entry, which is 2 A grades and 4 B grades at GCSE or IGCSE.
