The Marist School Welcomes Edie Jardine
The Marist School welcomes exchange student from St Henry’s Marist College South Africa – Edie Jardine
On 4 May, we welcomed our exchange student, Edie Jardine, from St Henry’s Marist College in South Africa.
She arrived on a Sunday morning and had an exciting first day meeting her host family, with whom she would be spending the next three weeks with. This was one of our Marist pupils’ families.
Edie enjoyed a lovely bank holiday Monday attending the VE Day parade at Trafalgar Square, followed by a visit to the Royal Ballet in the afternoon.
On Tuesday, she began her three weeks at The Marist School. She was paired with a buddy, given her Marist uniform, and quickly began to settle in.
On 23 May, Edie’s exchange came to an end. We asked her to share some words about her experience, which can be read below.
“The Marist truly has been a home away from home. I have been completely happy here and how could you not – it’s beautiful! The girls are probably the best part of this trip, they have been so kind. I’m definitely going to miss the playful banter, all the compliments, and stories. I loved being in the prep school with reception and butterflies who have given me cuddles and made me laugh. I don’t think I can put into words how grateful I am to our schools for organising this opportunity. I am also incredibly appreciative to my host family, I don’t think it could have been a better match and they really are family to me now. They have given me the best experience, showing me the coolest things and places. Thank you to everyone at The Marist, and every girl there for everything, every bit of kindness, and every memory, it means the world to me” – Edie Jardine, St Henry’s Marist College
It has been a joy having Edie at our school. She spent her final week being a great help in the prep school whilst the other senior students completed their exams.
We will miss Edie greatly. Although her experience has come to an end, it’s now time for her to return to South Africa with her Marist buddy, Olivia.
This is so Olivia can complete the same experience at Edie’s school.
We look forward to hearing about Olivia’s experience when she returns from St Henry’s Marist College.
