F1 In Schools Testing Day
F1 In Schools Testing Day
Last Wednesday, we took a small group of Senior and VI Form students to the F1 in Schools testing day at Canterbury University, where they had the opportunity to run their 3D-printed prototype cars along the 26-metre track.
It was a fantastic experience, and students enjoyed discussing their designs with engineering lecturers and students. This was the team’s first experience on the track, where they were able to receive a breakdown of race data and reaction times.
Students have currently been producing their cars in their spare time, but watch this space, as Miss Broderick will be setting up a co-curricular club as well as lunchtime workshops for students from all other year groups from March 2026. This will give everyone a chance to get involved and begin developing their prototypes and project portfolios in preparation for next year’s competition.
Everyone came away hugely inspired and full of ideas on how to refine their 3D-printed designs to maximise speed. We are taking three teams to the Southwest Regional Finals on 2 December.
If students would like to get involved in STEM Racing 2026, they should speak to Miss Broderick.
