Marist U19 Netball Team Bring Home Silver – Sisters N Sport U19 Plate Competition
On Thursday we travelled to Loughborough University to compete in the ‘Final Four’ of the Sisters N Sport U19 Plate competition.
In the months previously we as Senior 1s have been training hard, playing different teams across the South East to reach the final four. We played and beat teams such as Farnborough Sixth Form College, Surbiton High, Reigate Gramma, King Edwards School Southampton.
We progressed to the final four and played our semi-final at 11am against RGS Worchester, Although in the first half it was a tight match; we pulled away leading to an amazing score of 26-9 at the final whistle. The team worked cohesively and were determined to reach the final and play off for gold and silver.
During our 3-hour break before the final, we had a lovely tour of Loughborough University seeing the amazing specialist sports facilities and saw elite athletes in training on the MUGA.
We got an insight into life as a Loughborough University student which was so beneficial as many of us are heading to university in the near future in September 2025 or 2026.
Our final game was against Sandringham; it was a tough game, but well fought. The opposition put on a fabulous zonal defence pattern and despite losing we were so proud of reaching the final, coming away with smiles on our faces and silver medals around our necks Playing alongside teams such as Millfield, Sedbergh, Bromsgrove and Barking Abbey who were also in attendance at the tournament.
This was such a great experience for all of us to play at such a high level of netball and a competitive league experience we have been so fortunate to enter and be part of.
