Bea Simmons
Deputy Head
Beatrice Simmons was a student at The Marist herself, attending the school between the ages of four and eighteen. She then studied at Manchester Metropolitan University and graduated with a degree in English; and then later studied at Reading University for a PGCE. Since then she has taught at secondary schools in both Berkshire and Surrey before become Deputy Head at The Marist. Prior to joining The Marist, Beatrice gained a NPQH and a Masters in Education Leadership and Management from Reading University.
Becky May
Assistant Head: Transition and Development
Becky studied Sport Science & Geography at Loughborough University before embarking on a gap year of work and travel. She returned to Loughborough to complete her PGCE in Physical Education and then moved to London where she taught at St Dunstan’s College. After a few years at the College, Becky became Head of Girls’ Games and Academic PE, leading the subject at GCSE and A Level as well as sports tours and ski trips all over the world. After having her first daughter, Becky returned to her family town of Ascot, to join The Marist in 2015 as a part-time PE teacher. She then took on the role of Assistant Head: Transition and Development in charge of Admissions and Marketing.
Will May
Head of Prep
Will attended British international schools in Holland and Venezuela before settling in Cambridgeshire. After a degree in Politics, he spent a few years in finance, before finding his vocation in teaching. As former Head of Key Stage 1, Head of Middle School, and Housemaster, Will brings with him a wealth of experience across the age-range, specialising in teaching Maths. Will has a Masters in Educational Leadership and more recently completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Educational Studies at Cambridge.
Ed Hellings
Bursar
After graduating from Oxford University, Ed qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Touche Ross (now Deloitte) in 1993 and left in 1995 to join BAE SYSTEMS where he held a number of roles over the next 12 years, being involved in their UK operations and ending up as the Financial Controller for most of the UK, Saudi and Australian businesses. He began his career as a Bursar at Queen Anne’s School, Caversham in 2007 where he stayed until December 2022, during which time he oversaw several major building projects covering boarding, music, Sixth Form and sports. In March 2023, Ed became the Interim Bursar at St Mary’s, Calne for a year before joining The Marist School in September 2024.
Sarah Allmond
Director of Operations
Sarah graduated from the University of Liverpool with a BSc (Hons) in Zoology and, after a career in sales, ran her own business associated with the construction industry for 20 years. Concurrently she sat for nine years as an elected Councillor for Chertsey on Runnymede Borough Council, standing down when her fourth child was born. Sarah entered the education sector in a business compliance role at Bishopsgate School and subsequently at the Harris Federation, joining The Marist as Director of Operations in September 2024. Sarah has a Senior Leaders Masters Degree (MBA) and is a Chartered Manager and Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.
