Remembrance Day at The Marist School
Remembrance Day at The Marist
The school marked Remembrance Day with a deeply moving and reflective service, honouring all those who have sacrificed their lives in conflict. This significant day stands at the heart of the school’s community, and staff and students came together to pay their respects with solemnity and gratitude.
This year, the school also welcomed several members of the Royal Navy, ahead of its forthcoming affiliation with the Combined Cadet Force (Navy) in January. Lt Kiera Nazarin, WO1 Phill Hawkins (RM), and CPO Tim “Bomber” Mills, who will be working closely with the school in the coming months, joined the service. Their presence offered a meaningful connection to the Armed Forces and was received with appreciation by all in attendance.
Corporal Robinson-Plain from the Royal Corps of Army Music performed the Last Post, adding a moving moment of reflection. A wreath was laid by the school’s CCF Contingent Commander, Sub Lt Elsbury, together with WO1 Hawkins, as the community observed a moment of quiet remembrance.
Readings and prayers were delivered by members of the Marist student and staff body, with selections chosen to reflect both the solemnity of the day and, as a Navy-affiliated school, to honour those who lost their lives at sea. The service served as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by generations past and present.
