Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day was commemorated with a heartfelt and appropriate service centred around the theme of ‘Letters of the War.’
Students from years 3 to 13, along with all staff, came together before this year’s remembrance display, which was thoughtfully created by our art students.
The service began with an introduction from our Principal, Mrs Smith, who highlighted that whilst we honour the lives of those who sacrificed their lives in the First and Second World Wars, we must also reflect on the communities who are currently affected by the turmoil and trauma of war.
Following this, we heard poignant poems and readings delivered by staff, students from various year groups, and our Head Students.
Behind every statistic quoted on War there is always a person, a family, and a story that deserves to be recognised. To ensure we remember the humanity that existed in the face of such destruction, we heard excerpts from letters exchanged between families and soldiers at the front, before a touching hymn sung by the choir.
Our musicians guided us into a two-minute silence with the Last Post, after which our wreaths were laid.
On this significant occasion, we take pride in our community and the respect demonstrated by our students.
