Rockley Point, Poole – Water Sports Teambuilding Trip

Rockley Point, Poole – Water Sports Teambuilding Trip, written by Issy (Head Student, Year 13)

Last weekend, Year 11 and Year 13 students had an amazing time at Rockley Point in Poole taking part in a weekend packed-full of water sports. When we arrived on Friday we quickly wet-suited up and were straight on the water for some kayaking. Even though it was cold, we got stuck in, (quite literally getting stuck in the mud when we jumped out of the kayaks). In the evening, we played a music themed quiz which got very competitive, (especially when it came to the teachers), and everyone had to complete challenges from making the best cup of tea as quickly as possible, to mattress relay races.

On Saturday, we had lots of fun learning how to sail our own picos (small sailboats) in the morning. Although it was very windy, no one capsized! In the afternoon we went paddleboarding to a small island just off the beach and much to everyone’s excitement, we even had a close encounter with a seal! Sunday began with windsurfing which was difficult at first. Everyone had a laugh falling into the water and after lots of resilience, a few of us even managed to properly surf. In the afternoon our instructors took us out on motorboats and we finished the trip off with tunes on the speaker and a very wet boat trip!

Everyone had a great time in Rockley, and it was a really great experience to learn new skills and physically challenge ourselves, whilst working together between year groups.
