A Week of Celebration
Our annual calendar of ‘prize-giving’ events took place last week, beginning with our black-tie Sports Award evening on Thursday, and our back-to-back Prep Prize Giving and Senior Celebration of Achievement on Friday. It is always a joy to bring come together to celebrate the hard work and successes of the academic year.
The Marist sports teams swapped their blue and yellow kit for their finery at the Sports Awards Evening, commemorating a year of sporting participation and success and thanking our Year 13s for representing the school for seven years. Among others, cups were awarded for ‘Team of the Year’, ‘Contribution to School Sport’, and ‘Most Improved Players’.
‘Effort in equals results out’ was the subject of our Chair of Governors Dr Martin Stephen’s address at Friday’s events, chiming true to the commitment recognised by awards for Achievement and Engagement in each subject. The array of entertainment at both the Prep Prize Giving and Celebration of Achievement showcased the talents of many of our students, including LAMDA performances, choirs, violinists, and a personal account of The Marist South Africa Exchange; it was wonderful to see a snippet of what our students do beyond the classroom.
Proud parents then joined their children in the walled garden for a drinks reception in the sunshine to end a special day.
