Life Beyond VI Form

UCAS Preparation

Year 12 and 13 students have access to careers and university application information in an electronic format. We have current prospectuses for all British Universities and guides for making university choices, including software which relates A Level options to degree subjects and help with applications to universities abroad.

VI Form staff have extensive experience of helping students apply to university and are always available for personalised advice, encouragement, and guidance.

Year 12 students attend a Higher Education Exhibition at Surrey University, where they can talk to representatives from many universities and major employers. In the Summer term, they undertake a comprehensive programme of UCAS preparation, including talks from visiting speakers, and write the first draft of their UCAS personal statement.

Careers

Throughout the year, students are encouraged to continue work experience opportunities and to take responsibility for their higher education and future career prospects. We host informal talks from visiting speakers on their jobs and personal career paths, and students are also able to attend the biennial Careers Fair. We have a wealth of resources on topics such as writing a CV, gap year opportunities and career requirements, and have access to careers software.

Destinations

Almost all our VI Formers choose to continue their education on to degree level. Each year we have an exceptional number of students who achieve places at the UK’s top universities. Assistance is also provided for those planning to move onto an internship, apprenticeship, or gap year. This has included positions at British Airways and Unilever and places on Art Foundation and Drama courses.
